South African songstress Tyla makes a grand entrance into the music scene with the release of her much-anticipated self-titled debut album, dropping on Friday. This exciting release comes hot on the heels of her recent triumph at the Grammy Awards last month.
The 22-year-old sensation soared to fame last year, making waves with her sensation “Water”, which climbed to the top 10 on the U.S. Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and landed within the top 5 in the UK. The track showcased the unique fusion of house, jazz, and log drums that define the amapiano genre, originating from South Africa.
Her debut album “TYLA”, comprising 15 tracks, is a culmination of her diverse musical influences growing up. Collaborations with notable artists like U.S. rapper Travis Scott and Nigerian singer Tems add depth and flair to the project.
Tyla‘s breakout single “Water” not only reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 but also clinched the prestigious Grammy award for Best African Music Performance this year.
Additionally, she was spotlighted on Billboard’s esteemed 2024 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists to Watch list.
While Tyla had initially planned to embark on her first headlining tour starting March 21, alongside a highly anticipated Coachella performance, unfortunate circumstances have led to the postponement of these events due to a worsening injury. Nonetheless, fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to experience Tyla’s electrifying debut album live on stage.
