Ugo Nwokolo Blames Nedu for Manipulating Him Into Controversial ‘Poor Girls’ Remark

After facing heavy backlash for saying that “poor girls turn him on,” Ugo Nwokolo has backtracked, now claiming media personality Nedu manipulated him into making the statement.

Speaking on Lucky Udu’s video podcast, Nwokolo admitted he made a mistake but insisted that Nedu pressured him into saying things that do not reflect his true beliefs.

“I’m new in the industry, so I foolishly agreed to that, and that’s what put me in the mess I’m in today,” he said. “I went on a podcast and said the things Nedu asked me—manipulated me—to say. But I take responsibility. I’m not blaming anyone, just telling Nigerians what really happened. It’s against my character because poor girls don’t turn me on. Nedu forced and manipulated me to say that.”

Nwokolo acknowledged the backlash, including accusations that he seeks out poor women to control them, but he insisted those claims are false.

“I’ve been seeing egregious comments saying I manipulate women, that I want a poor girl to use—things that are against my character. That’s not who I am. I’m so sorry. I’m just a victim of manipulation, and that’s why I’m here to clear the air.”

He further alleged that before the podcast, Nedu assured him by referencing other controversial statements he had orchestrated.

“He told me he made Saida Boj say what she said, and now she’s popular. He said, ‘If I can make Saida Boj who she is, who are you? Just trust me.’ That’s how I found myself in this mess, which has deeply affected me in all aspects of my life.”

Nwokolo also accused Nedu of prioritizing viral moments over his guests’ reputations.

“He just wants views, and he doesn’t care about the damage it does to people,” he said.
