An unidentified adult man has jumped into the Lagos Lagoon at the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge area.

Eye-witnesses broke the story on social media on Tuesday afternoon.

Following the incident, emergency responders were quickly deployed to the scene to recover the victim from the water. The Head, Public Education of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Amodu Shakiru, said “We got a distress call at about 2:43 pm and we moved down to the location. There is no update yet.”

The Lagos state police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin on Twitter said the area has been cordoned off by the police.
