Vice President Kashim Shettima yesterday attended the wedding ceremony of the sons of Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, Kano State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communication, Stanley Nkwocha, shared details of the event on his X handle, revealing that the ceremony took place in Kano. Upon arrival at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Shettima was welcomed by Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and former Kano State Deputy Governor Nasir Gawuna.

Among other dignitaries present at the event was former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, alongside prominent politicians and stakeholders.

Later the same day, Vice President Shettima attended the traditional wedding ceremony of Toluwatimi Esther Oyebanji and Ayodeji Kenny Akinyemi at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State. Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima used the occasion to highlight the leadership qualities of Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, describing him as a model of humility and foresight.

“Shettima praised Oyebanji’s ability to foster unity, noting that the governor brought together four past governors under the same canopy. Reflecting on Abraham Lincoln’s famous quote, he said, ‘Most men can survive adversity, but to see true character, give them power and money.’ He commended Oyebanji’s inclusive approach and urged leaders to maintain relationships beyond political office.”

The Vice President also extended best wishes to the newlyweds, expressing hopes for their marital bliss, fruitful partnership, and patience.

Speaking directly to Governor Oyebanji, Shettima said, “I believe you have a rendezvous with destiny and more rivers to cross. Your leadership offers valuable lessons for us all.”
