Nigerian football sensation Victor Osimhen has etched his name into Galatasaray’s history books, breaking a 24-year-old record to become the first foreign player in the club’s history to score 35 goals in a single season.
Osimhen’s record-breaking feat came in spectacular fashion during Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Cup final, where he netted two crucial goals to surpass the previous mark set by Brazilian legend Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 season. His first goal, a powerful strike in the 46th minute, was followed by a stunning finish in the 63rd minute, securing Galatasaray’s 19th Turkish Cup title.
Since joining Galatasaray, Osimhen has been a dominant force in Turkish football, showcasing his exceptional goal-scoring ability and cementing his status as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe. His contributions have been instrumental in Galatasaray’s successful campaign, with the club now on the verge of securing a domestic double.
Speaking after the match, Osimhen expressed his gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and fans, stating, “It’s an incredible feeling to break this record and help Galatasaray achieve success. The support from the fans has been amazing, and I’m proud to be part of this club’s history.”
