On the second anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Western leaders including the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, have visited Kyiv to express support for Ukraine.

Prime Ministers Alexander de Croo of Belgium, Giorgia Meloni of Italy, and Canada’s Justin Trudeau also arrived in Kyiv on Saturday morning as the country commemorated two years of conflict with Russia.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured his citizens that Ukraine is “730 days closer to victory”.

“Any normal person desires an end to the war, but none of us will allow our Ukraine to be extinguished. Therefore, when it comes to concluding the war, we always insist – on our terms. That’s why, alongside the word ‘peace,’ the term ‘just’ always resonates. In the future, next to the word Ukraine, the term ‘independent’ will always be present”.
