Afrobeats star Kcee has shed light on a chapter of his life fans rarely hear about—his once-serious relationship with Nollywood actress Ebube Nwagbo.

In a candid interview on the Tea With Tay podcast, the singer confirmed that their romance wasn’t just a fling, but a high-profile relationship that came close to ending in marriage.

“Our relationship was everywhere—Ebube Nwagbo. We were always on the front covers of newspapers. And we usually sat in the front row of every red carpet show. We were close to getting married. Whatever that happened, happened,” he recounted.

Reflecting on his early years in the spotlight, Kcee also touched on the media frenzy surrounding his personal life before the era of social media.

“My scandals were before social media became rampant. I was just about a young boy dating one actress. Me and actresses were always headlining the papers. I loved actresses back then. Who wouldn’t?” he said.

Though now happily married to Ijeoma Okonkwo since 2010, Kcee’s revelations have sparked nostalgia among fans who remember the days when he and Ebube were a red-carpet regulars and tabloid favorites.

The heartfelt recollection offers a rare glimpse into Kcee’s life before fame took on its digital form—one filled with public love, media attention, and roads not taken.
