United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken has called on Israel not to reoccupy Gaza once its ongoing war with Hamas ends.
Antony Blinken while speaking to reporters after a G7 Foreign Ministers summit in Japan, listed what he said were “key elements” in order to create “durable peace and security”.
“The United States believes key elements should include: no forcible displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, not now, not after the war; No use of Gaza as a platform for terrorism or other violent attacks; No reoccupation of Gaza after the conflict ends”.
He added that other conditions included no “attempt to blockade or besiege Gaza” or any “reduction in the territory of Gaza.”
At a time when our world faces increasingly complex challenges, our G7 partnership has never been more important. In Tokyo, I spoke with @MinColonna, @MelanieJoly, @JamesCleverly, @Antonio_Tajani, and @ABaerbock on our shared goals towards international peace and security. pic.twitter.com/V29fdKOM2i
