Popular Lagos socialite, Farida Sobowale, the CEO of House of Phreeda Bodycare and Spa , has spoken out for the first time following her rescue from a suicide attempt on the Third Mainland Bridge.

A viral video had shown Farida being rescued by passersby as she attempted to plunge into the Third Mainland Bridge on Thursday.

In an audio she did in Yoruba language to explain the situation, the businesswoman revealed that she tried to commit suicide out of love for her ex-husband.

She said she felt betrayed and deceived after their lavish wedding, and pleaded for the forgiveness of her fans and followers. She further stated that she has moved on and has left the situation to God.

You can listen to her explanation in the Tweet below.

Part of what she said translate as follows: “Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.

“It was love that pushed me into this. He told me that he was going to be with me, make me bore children for him.

“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.

“I have forgiven my ex-husband. May God provide him with another wife.”

In June of this year, Farida Sobowale held a high profile wedding with her partner Demola Okulaja which even featured a performance by Fuji Maestro K1 De Ultimate.

Unfortunately, barely two months after their wedding which allegedly cost 100 million naira, Demola Okulaja dumped her for his side-chick, one Yemisi Fasawe.
