Wike Revokes PDP Secretariat Land Over Unpaid Rent

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocated for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat in the Central Business District, Abuja.

The 12-story building, which has remained uncompleted for 20 years, was initially estimated to cost N16 billion, with construction starting in 2008. Despite the PDP raising over N62 billion through fundraising events and the sale of nomination forms over multiple election cycles, the project remains abandoned.

The revocation was confirmed in a letter signed by the Director of Land Administration, Chijoke Nwankwoeze, on behalf of the Minister. Dated March 13, 2025, and addressed to the PDP National Chairman, the letter cited the party’s failure to pay annual ground rent for 20 years (2006–2025) as the reason for the decision.

The FCT Administration had previously issued multiple public notices since 2023, urging all allottees to settle outstanding payments, but the PDP failed to comply. As a result, the property has been reverted to the FCT Administration, which will take immediate possession.

As of the time of this report, the PDP has not issued an official response.
