The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, has sealed the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja due to non-payment of ground rent spanning 28 years.
The enforcement action took place at Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, as part of a broader crackdown on land rent defaulters in the capital. The FCTA had previously issued multiple notices urging property owners to settle outstanding dues, but the PDP failed to comply.
According to official records, the PDP headquarters owed approximately N7.6 million in ground rent, leading to the revocation of its Right of Occupancy. The decision aligns with the FCTA’s ongoing efforts to enforce compliance with land use regulations and recover unpaid dues from thousands of property owners across Abuja.
Minister Wike emphasized that the action was not politically motivated but rather a necessary step to uphold the law and ensure accountability among property owners. The FCTA has also sealed other properties, including offices of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and several commercial establishments, as part of this enforcement drive.
