The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has visited the scene of a building collapse in the Garki District of Abuja. The building collapse occurred around 11:30pm on Wednesday.

Addressing journalists at the incident scene on Thursday morning, Wike reiterated his earlier comment that buildings without proper approval within the nation’s capital would be pulled down.

“This is what we are saying: any building without approval will go down.

“We don’t hate anybody. All we are saying is the proper thing should be done.”

So far, rescue operations by the FCT Emergency Management Agency are almost over, with 37 people rescued and 2 others fatally injured.
