The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has warned that without divine intervention, the exchange rate could have soared to ₦10,000 to $1.
Speaking during the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, Adeboye attributed Nigeria’s financial struggles to its dependence on fuel imports, despite being an oil-rich nation. He highlighted the billions spent on non-functional refineries, which perpetuate reliance on imported petrol.
Adeboye also commented on the government’s removal of fuel subsidies, a decision he said angered those who profited from the old system and further exacerbated the country’s economic challenges.
“We need help, and not just human help—it must be divine help,” he said.
The cleric emphasized the critical role of prayer, explaining how he sought divine intervention to curb the naira’s rapid decline.
“If God hadn’t stepped in, $1 could have been equivalent to ₦10,000 by now. This shows how much we need prayers,” he stated.
