One of the standout tracks from Wizkid‘s fourth album, ‘Made In Lagos’, titled ‘Essence’, has reached an impressive milestone by attaining quadruple platinum status in the United States. This accomplishment solidifies ‘Essence’ as one of the most successful exports from the Afrobeats genre.

Released in 2020, ‘Essence’ featuring Tems experienced widespread commercial success, particularly in the United States, where it reached the notable position of No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to the remix featuring Justin Bieber.

The track not only contributed to Wizkid‘s international acclaim but also propelled Tems to new heights in her career. Following her collaboration on ‘Essence’, Tems made history as the first Nigerian female artist to debut a song on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, she achieved the unprecedented feat of debuting at No. 1 with Future‘s ‘Wait For U’, making her the first Nigerian female artist to win a Grammy.
