Wolves Compound Manchester United’s Misery with 2-0 Victory

Ruben Amorim’s challenging start at Manchester United continued with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Wolves, who climbed out of the relegation zone as a result.

The turning point came just 88 seconds into the second half when Bruno Fernandes received a second yellow card, leaving United a man down and allowing Wolves to take control of the match.

Wolves opened the scoring with a stunning direct free-kick from Matheus Cunha, and in the dying moments of stoppage time, Cunha assisted Hwang Hee-chan to seal the victory and secure all three points for Wolves.

The win marked Wolves’ escape from the Premier League relegation zone for the first time in nearly a month, while United’s defeat left them languishing in 14th place, showing little promise of improvement under Amorim.

Jose Sa made a key early save against Diogo Dalot, while Andre Onana reacted well to tip a Jorgen Strand Larsen header over the bar, as the teams engaged in a fairly even but uneventful first half.

The match ignited shortly after the break when Fernandes became the first United player in 16 years since Nemanja Vidic to receive three red cards in a single season across all competitions, due to a foul on Nelson Semedo.

United pressed for an equalizer in the final minutes after falling behind to Cunha’s controversial corner, which he claimed was intentional, paralleling their previous loss to Son Heung-min in the Carabao Cup just a week prior.
