Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola and food critic Opeyemi have engaged in a heated exchange after Toriola called out popular chef ChefT for allegedly ignoring her request to feature in one of her cooking episodes to promote her upcoming movie.
Following Toriola’s public complaint, Opeyemi strongly defended ChefT, criticizing those who, in his view, were trying to “drag down” her name despite her contributions to the food industry.
In a passionate rant, he stated, “We don’t drag chefs here… You are not entitled to anybody’s collaboration. This actress, let me not call anybody’s name, but she unfollowed me when I said the truth.”

Realizing she was being referred to, Wumi Toriola fired back with a scathing response on Instagram. She accused Opeyemi of being a self-appointed critic who has done more harm than good to struggling entrepreneurs.
“There’s really no need to act like a coward,” she wrote. “My name is Wumi Toriola, and I’m merely responding to your tantrums and desperate need for attention – if it brings you even a shred of relevance, I truly don’t mind.”
She further challenged Opeyemi’s credibility, implying that he lacked a defined career and advising him to “establish a long-term career or build a successful business” before engaging in such public criticisms.
The exchange has sparked debate on social media, with fans divided over whether Toriola was right to call out ChefT or if Opeyemi was justified in defending her.
