Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has suggested that U.S. agencies, including the CIA, could potentially access WhatsApp messages by exploiting vulnerabilities in users’ devices, effectively bypassing the platform’s encryption.

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, Zuckerberg explained that while WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption ensures Meta cannot view the content of messages, authorities could gain access through weaknesses in device security. He cited spyware tools such as Pegasus as examples of how this could be achieved.

In response to privacy concerns, WhatsApp is introducing new features, such as disappearing messages, to give users greater control over their conversations and enhance overall security.
