Adedapo Idowu, a 94-year-old man, has registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking a significant step in his pursuit of tertiary education.

His story was highlighted in the latest bulletin from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), where Idowu shared his excitement about finally having the opportunity to pursue his dream at an advanced age.

“I can now attain my dream at an advanced age,” he said.

Idowu praised the UTME registration process, describing it as smooth and efficient. He commended JAMB for integrating the National Identity Number (NIN), which he believes has eliminated discrimination against the elderly, underprivileged, and people with disabilities.

“The registration staff gave me a sense of belonging through the warm reception at the registration venue,” he added.

Encouraging JAMB to maintain its seamless registration system, Idowu expressed confidence in successfully taking the examination. He also advised other candidates to approach their academic journey with professionalism and contentment.

The 2025 UTME registration began on January 31, and JAMB has confirmed that over 700,000 candidates have already registered, including 11,000 underage applicants.
