Former Osun State Governor and ex-Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, says he has forgiven a man who allegedly attempted to assassinate him in 2006.
Aregbesola made this known in a Facebook post on Sunday, revealing that the man, identified as Sikiru Olaboye, had sought his forgiveness.
According to Aregbesola, Olaboye visited him after first calling a local radio station in Osogbo, Osun State, to publicly ask for pardon.
âEarlier today, I received Sikiru Olaboye, one of the men who attempted to assassinate me during the 2006 Oroki Day Celebration in Osogbo,â Aregbesola wrote.
The former governor assured Olaboye that he held no grudges against him or anyone else involved in the attack.
âToday, while praying for him, I assured him that I hold no grudges against him or anyone else involved. I neither harbored resentment nor sought revenge after God spared me from that attack,â he added.
Aregbesola further emphasized the power of divine forgiveness, saying:
“It is God alone who has the power to forgive all our shortcomings. As His servants, I pray that He forgives both his and mine, Aamen!”
