Fido Calls Out Marketing Companies Over Alleged Exploitative Practices

Fast-rising singer Fido has cautioned his followers about the alleged manipulative practices of some marketing companies in the music industry.

Taking to X, Fido claimed that these companies deceive artists into believing they are responsible for their success, creating a sense of dependency. He warned that once an artist becomes self-sufficient and aware of their value, these companies allegedly turn against them, attempting to tarnish their reputation.

“Marketing company go make you feel like na them Dey help your life, whereas na you Dey make money for them,” Fido wrote. “The day you show to them you know what you’re doing, they turn your enemies and paint you bad out there. #shineyoureyes.”

In a follow-up statement, Fido acknowledged the importance of marketing in the music business but condemned what he described as exploitative tactics. He alleged that a marketing company was trying to control him as if they had signed him while taking 70% of his show earnings, leaving him with just 30%.

“Marketing is very important in the music business, I’m not discrediting the effort of marketing companies,” he stated. “But which one is marketing company trying to control me like they signed me, steal from me? How will a marketer be collecting 70% of all my show money and me, the artist, get 30% + they don’t want me to see the backend of how my music revenue is generating…Who does that?”

Fido urged fellow artists to be vigilant and fully understand their worth to avoid falling victim to such practices.
