The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod, popularly known as Eezee Tee, over foreign exchange malpractice and money laundering in the sum of $397,106.

ThankGod, a music promoter of international repute and former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, appeared before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, along with his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited.

EFCC’s new seven-count charge holds ThankGod to a charge of unauthorised foreign exchange deal and non-reporting of business activities to the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML). The offence carries a charge that in June 2023, he processed a foreign exchange transaction of $52,895 without approval.

ThankGod entered a plea of not guilty to all the charges. The prosecution, led by Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, requested him to be remanded in a correctional centre out of fear over his previous refusal to comply with EFCC invitations But his defense attorney, Chikaozolu Ojukwu (SAN), prayed the court to admit him on liberal terms since his client had been complying with the authorities.
