A US court has upheld a ruling requiring former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. to pay $2.4 million in damages to Zinni Media Concept Limited, a Nigerian company, for breaching a 2017 contract.

Mayweather was contracted to appear in Africa, including Nigeria, but terminated the deal without cause, refusing to refund the advance payment.

Zinni Media sued Mayweather for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraud in 2018. The court awarded:

– $1.6 million in damages

– $721,881 in prejudgment interest

– $16,270 in attorney fees

– $285 in other costs

Mayweather’s appeal was denied on August 27, 2024. Despite the ruling, he has yet to pay. The court has authorized asset seizure to recover the amount, with additional penalties accruing at 10% interest annually.
