Ghanaian Actor, John Dumelo Wins Parliamentary Election

Popular Ghanaian actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has been declared the winner of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.

Dumelo, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated the incumbent, Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the parliamentary election held during Ghana’s general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

The actor secured victory with 40,561 votes, while Alhassan garnered 27,377.

This marks a significant comeback for Dumelo, who first contested the seat in 2020 but narrowly lost to Alhassan.

Dumelo, a celebrated actor who began his career in 1991 as a schoolboy, has since featured in numerous Gollywood and Nollywood films. His transition from entertainment to politics has been widely celebrated by his supporters.
