Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced the establishment of a “standing army” of specialist police officers to address rioting and unrest in England, as reported by the PA news agency.

“We will have a standing army of specialist public duty officers to ensure we have enough personnel to handle these situations as needed,” Starmer stated.

“Additionally, we will intensify our criminal justice efforts. Hundreds of arrests have already been made, with some individuals appearing in court this morning.”

Starmer emphasized the importance of identifying and prosecuting those involved in the riots swiftly:

“I have requested early consideration for the naming and identification of those involved so they will face the full force of the law.”

The Prime Minister also issued a stern warning against illegal activities online:

“I have made it absolutely clear that the criminal law applies online as well as offline. Regardless of the supposed motivation, this is not protest; it is pure violence, and we will not tolerate attacks on mosques or our Muslim communities. All those identified as participants in these activities will face the full force of the law.”
