The Nigerian Government is holding a critical meeting with labour union leaders to address the recent fuel price hike. The meeting is taking place at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Attendees include top government officials: Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Labour Minister; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance; Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Information Minister; Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum; Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources; and representatives from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has denounced the fuel price increase, urging an immediate reversal. NLC President Joe Ajaero criticized the government for prioritizing price hikes over citizens’ welfare.

The NLC seeks two key resolutions:

1. Immediate reversal of the fuel price increase

2. Clarity on the government’s economic vision

The meeting aims to resolve these issues and find a solution to the fuel price crisis.
