Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi expressed concerns over President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s concurrent foreign travels amid Nigeria’s pressing domestic issues.

Tinubu traveled to the UK on October 2, 2024, for a two-week working leave and subsequently to France. Meanwhile, Shettima visited Sweden for bilateral engagements.

Obi questioned the timing, emphasizing Nigeria’s need for leadership attention. He noted Tinubu’s initial 14-day leave had expired, and his return is eagerly awaited to address pressing national issues.

The Presidency defended the trips, stating Tinubu and Shettima remain engaged with national affairs despite their absence.

This development sparks debate about balancing international relations with domestic priorities.
