Controversial Nigerian street-hop star Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has been granted ₦1 million bail by an Upper Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State — but remains in custody for now after failing to meet bail conditions.

According to Beesreign Media, the Ogun-born singer’s legal troubles stem from a copyright and defamation dispute with legendary Fuji artiste Saheed Osupa. The row began after Osupa filed a complaint against Portable’s song ‘Fuji Shakushaku’, which resulted in its removal from Apple Music for alleged copyright infringement.

Osupa also accused Portable of defamation and cyberbullying in a March 19 Instagram live session, where Portable allegedly claimed Osupa was sabotaging his career.

On Monday, Portable was arraigned on multiple charges, including:

  • Criminal defamation
  • Cyberstalking
  • Inciting public disturbance
  • Criminal intimidation

Despite being granted bail, the court set strict conditions. One surety must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), while the second must be a property owner in a Government Reserved Area (GRA) with a valid Certificate of Occupancy.

As of press time, Portable had not fulfilled these requirements and remains remanded in custody.

The case follows an investigation led by the State Intelligence Department of the Nigeria Police, who arrested Portable in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and later transferred him to Ilorin.

Osupa insists the singer’s statements were calculated to damage his reputation, provoke public hatred, and incite a breach of peace.
