The Presidency has confirmed that some senior aides and close associates of Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, are currently in advanced discussions with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding a potential defection.

This revelation, disclosed by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Affairs, Daniel Bwala, underscores ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to Mr. Bwala, several prominent figures from Obi’s inner circle have already initiated dialogue with key APC stakeholders and are being welcomed into the party.

“Peter Obi’s political structure is gradually embracing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” Bwala stated. “Key allies including Valentine Ozigbo and Isaac Balami have already joined our fold. These developments are strong indicators of growing confidence in the APC’s leadership and vision for Nigeria.

”Although Mr. Obi himself has not issued any public comment on the matter, insiders in both camps suggest that the talks lean towards a strategic realignment that will redefine oppositional politics in the country.
