The Lagos State Government has expressed concern over the state’s underrepresentation in military recruitment.
Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, addressed this issue during a quarterly meeting with the Police Community Relations Committee in Ikeja.
Salu-Hundeyin emphasized that national security is a collective responsibility and serving in the military is a vital contribution to the state and country. She noted that Lagos State has been seriously short-changed, with very few residents applying to join the military.
“We discovered that Lagos State has been underrepresented in the military. Unfortunately, our children don’t see the need to join,” Salu-Hundeyin said. “National security is everyone’s business. If our state doesn’t participate, we’re short-changing ourselves.”
The government urges Lagos residents to take advantage of military recruitment opportunities, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring national security.
