President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a salary increase for members of Nigeria’s armed forces. This was announced on Friday by Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, in a statement issued by the ministry’s spokesperson, Henshaw Ogubike.

The government has also authorized the payment of three months’ salary arrears. In addition, funds have been allocated to settle outstanding pensions and entitlements for retired military personnel.

The minister confirmed that military personnel have begun receiving alerts for the three-month salary increase, marking a significant boost to their morale.

He commended President Tinubu for his steadfast support for both active and retired military members, emphasizing that clearing pension arrears remains a top priority. “Despite early challenges, rest assured that the President is committed to strengthening our armed forces as they tackle the nation’s security issues,” he affirmed.
