Trump Announces Two Former Allies, Pompeo and Haley Will Not Return, to Ministerial duties

President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday that he will not be reappointing two prominent figures from his previous administration.

Reports indicate that former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley will not be part of Trump’s upcoming team. On his Truth Social platform, Trump confirmed, “I will not be inviting” Pompeo or Haley, addressing speculation about his new administration.

Pompeo’s recent proposals on Ukraine, particularly his July plan recommending increased military support and stronger measures against Russia’s energy sector, have drawn attention. Analysts noted that these positions diverge from Trump’s campaign promises, as Trump has frequently stated that he could end the Ukraine conflict within 24 hours and has criticized ongoing U.S. support for Kyiv.

Haley, who ran against Trump in the Republican primary before endorsing him, also seems unlikely to return. Her blunt remarks, including an August comment urging Trump to “quit whining” about Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, may have contributed to the decision.

“I very much appreciated working with them previously and would like to thank them for their service to our country,” Trump stated Saturday, recognizing their contributions during his first term.

So far, Trump has made one key appointment, naming Susie Wiles, his campaign manager, as the next White House chief of staff. Wiles, known for her calm demeanor, which has earned her the nickname “ice baby,” will be the first woman to serve in this critical role.
