Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has publicly called out comedian and skit maker Carter Efe for failing to pay a ₦1 million bet after losing a FIFA video game match.

The duo played the game at Carter Efe’s studio, where they had agreed on the bet. However, after losing, Carter Efe reportedly failed to pay the full amount. A viral video captured the moment Carter Efe pleaded with Zlatan to pardon him, but the rapper refused. In response, Zlatan seized some of Carter Efe’s studio equipment and his phone as collateral.

Hours later, Zlatan took to Twitter to express his frustration, writing:

“Carter, pay me my money na. Only 200k I don see out of 1M.”

The incident has sparked reactions on social media, with fans divided over Zlatan’s approach. Some believe he was justified in demanding his money, while others feel the matter could have been handled privately.

This dispute contrasts with Carter Efe’s past statements about Zlatan’s generosity. In March 2024, Carter Efe revealed that Zlatan had supported him during his early struggles, providing him with clothes and money without seeking public recognition.

“When I was nothing, Zlatan used to give me clothes and money. In fact, he gave me everything. He didn’t do a video so the world could see what he was doing,” Carter Efe had said.

Despite their past camaraderie, the current issue underscores the importance of honoring financial agreements, even among friends.
