The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, has begun the 21-day traditional rites known as “Oro Ipebi,” a mandatory seclusion period before his official coronation.

The rites, which started on Friday, March 7, 2025, will run until Saturday, March 29, 2025. In line with tradition, a nightly curfew has been imposed across Oyo township from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily.
