Oluwaseun Kuforiji Sets Milestone with Remarkable 107-Hour Guinness World Records Sewing Marathon Attempt

Nigerian fashion designer and entrepreneur Oluwaseun Kuforiji, popularly known as KOIL, has etched his name in history with a groundbreaking attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record for the longest sewing marathon. His awe-inspiring journey, which began at 9 AM on January 22, 2025, lasted an impressive 107 hours, 55 minutes, and 32 seconds—falling just short of his targeted 120 hours after medical advise led to its conclusion.

With only a needle, thread, and his hands, the Ogun State-born designer pushed the limits of endurance and creativity, producing 18 exquisite outfits, including Agbada, Danshiki, Kimonos, and other stunning garments. Each stitch was a testament to African resilience, cultural pride, and unparalleled craftsmanship.

The sew-a-thon came to an end on the night of January 26, 2025, when Kuforiji’s medical team recommended halting the challenge for health reasons. While he didn’t reach his intended goal, the feat has garnered widespread admiration from fans, industry leaders, and spectators who witnessed the historic event, both in person and virtually.

This remarkable Guinness World Record attempt underscores the designer’s passion for Nigerian artistry and fashion, showcasing Africa’s vibrant creativity to the world. Kuforiji’s journey stands as a celebration of perseverance, cultural pride, and the unyielding spirit of African innovation.
