The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has appealed to Nigerians to pray for their leaders, even in challenging times, rather than cursing them.

Speaking at the University of Ilorin during a public lecture and book presentation honoring Professor Is’haq Oloyede, the Sultan emphasized the importance of prayer and support for leaders.

“Don’t curse your leaders, no matter how bad they may be. Pray for them instead,” he urged.

Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, echoed the Sultan’s sentiments, encouraging Nigerians to promote unity and positivity.

“While acknowledging our challenges, we must present a united front to the world and work towards minimizing negative influences,” Fagbemi said.

The event celebrated Professor Oloyede’s 70th birthday and retirement from the University of Ilorin, with the launch of two books: “Islamics, Scholarship and Service to Society” and “Glimpses into the Giant: A Tapestry of Tributes to Prof. Is-haq Oloyede at 70”.
