President Bola Tinubu received Governor of Delta State Sheriff Oborevwori behind closed doors today at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in a top political breakthrough after the latter recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Oborevwori, who arrived at the State House around 3:45 p.m., was received by high-ranking government officials before the talks with the President. The visit is seen far and wide as an official endorsement of his political realignment and a sign of improved amity between Delta State and the APC-led federal government.

Oborevwori’s defection, which took place last week, sent shockwaves across the political landscape in Delta State, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has traditionally held sway. His move, alongside that of his predecessor, former PDP vice presidential candidate Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and other key political figures, is considered a major boost for the APC as it seeks to expand its influence in the South-South region.
